NSW: Spitting at ref earns fan six month ban from stadium

SYDNEY, Aug 15 AAP - A man has been banned from Sydney's ANZ Stadium after allegedly
spitting at the referees during Friday evening's NRL clash between South Sydney Rabbitohs
and Gold Coast Titans.

Police say the 26-year-old spat at the refs as they walked off the pitch and through
the player's tunnel at the end of the match, which ended in a 22-14 victory for the Titans.

"The man, from St Andrews in Sydney's south-west, was issued a field court attendance
notice for offensive conduct," a police statement said.

"A banning notice from ANZ Stadium was issued for six months.

"The man will appear before court at a date to be fixed."

Police arrested and charged one person for offensive conduct, resisting arrest and
assaulting police and officers ejected two people from the ground for being drunk.
